Facial care for blemished skin
Impure skin is based on an overactivity of the sebaceous and sweat glands. As a result, this usually oily skin has a shiny, oily glow and is prone to blemishes. Even though it may be tempting to reach for strongly alcohol-based, aggressive skincare products, you should follow this rule: “Clarify, but don’t overcare.” We’ll tell you what to watch out for in your skincare routine on this page.
This is how you recognize impure skin on the face
Impure skin is easily recognized by oily shiny complexion, enlarged pores, pimples, and blackheads. The complexion appears uneven. Often, not only the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) is affected by these skin conditions, but also other areas of the face such as the cheeks.
These can be causes of impure skin
With impure skin, an annoying cycle becomes apparent: increased sebum production can clog the (already enlarged) pores and thus promote increased bacterial growth. These cause new impurities – and the cycle starts again. Possible causes include hormonal changes (e.g., due to various contraceptives, pregnancies, childbirth, menopause, etc.), external environmental factors, an unbalanced diet, skin diseases, and stress. Impure skin can also be caused by genetic predisposition. Skin care that does not suit the skin type or contains pore-clogging (comedogenic) ingredients can also play a role.
What was once almost exclusively considered a typical teenage problem has unfortunately become widespread beyond the age of 30 in recent years: more and more adults suffer from so-called “late acne.” Impure skin can therefore still be an issue at 40, and pimples on the face at 50.
1) Gentle facial cleansing: Consistency is key
For your daily "washing routine", we recommend thoroughly cleansing, oil-free, and gentle cleansing products that remove excess sebum, dirt, and makeup residues from your skin without irritating it or clogging the pores.
Consistency is key here. Especially oily skin should be cleansed twice a day. This works best with mild facial cleansers that do not strip your skin of too much oil or burden it unnecessarily – otherwise, its sensitive balance will be further disrupted.
In the second step, a toner can help to clarify your skin and restore the pH balance. This prepares it optimally for the next care steps.
2) The right facial care for blemished skin
For a skincare routine for blemished skin or acne, the combination of clarifying and moisturizing products is particularly effective.
Therefore, serums and day creams with light, non-greasy textures are recommended for this skin type.
Ingredients that provide intense moisture and refine pores are the best care partners for impure and oily skin.
3) For your weekly me-time
To prevent new blemishes and blackheads, you can pamper your skin several times a week with a skin-clearing mask. Fine peeling masks that give your skin a smooth and supple feeling, as well as comfortable sheet masks that are simply applied to the face, are suitable for this.
While you rest, the skin-clearing active ingredients can get to work and help improve your complexion.
Once or twice a week, your skin will appreciate a gentle clarifying peel. Peels deeply cleanse the skin, gently remove dead skin cells, refine the complexion, and regulate sebum production. By improving the absorption of active ingredients, they help prevent the formation of new blemishes.
One option is classic mechanical peels with exfoliating grains based on silica. Alternatively, you can use a chemical peel, for example with azelaic acid – but start by using it only once a week, then gradually increase to four applications per week.
Please note: Especially if you suffer from pimples and acne, you should not rub the fine peeling grains too much on your skin. More is not always better: To avoid irritating your skin further, you should use the peeling regularly, but not too often and definitely not daily.
4) What helps against pimples on the face?
Do you have pimples on your chin or pimples on your forehead? Antibacterial and natural ingredients can help pimples fade faster and prevent the formation of new blemishes.
Many people rely on zinc ointment for pimples. We recommend our Pure Beauty Spot Treatment with Organic Mint and Zinc. Our insider tip: In the evening, after thorough cleansing, apply a small amount directly to the affected areas and leave it on overnight. This way, the natural formulation with high-quality plant ingredients has enough time to work directly on the acute spot and soothe your skin.

At a glance: How to care for impure skin
The most important things summarized for you
- Cleaning should not be too aggressive or drying – opt for a gentle facial cleanse instead
- Don’t touch your face with your hands – this spreads bacteria even more
- Use a gentle mechanical scrub 1-2 times a week. If you prefer a chemical peel, introduce it to your skin slowly and follow the usage instructions.
- Disinfecting masks, e.g. with organic mint, clarify your complexion
- Use only lukewarm water to avoid unnecessarily irritating your sensitive skin
- Less is more: Problematic skin doesn’t like “cream-hopping”. Stick to the skincare your skin tolerates well.
